Darkly Pink
I'm in it
I'm happy
When I say it
Darkly
I'm seeing
Pretty
Like his...
They were
So darkly pink
Delicious
This one makes me laugh. I this this was also written to be lyrics to a song by a fictional band or poetry written by a fictional character. I can't remember if it was written in the voice of Julien AKA Orchid as some B-side for Velvet (not that they had sides) or if it was supposed to be written by the character Anne about Thierry during their romance. I think it's kinda inspired by or making fun of romance writing and it's about the color of someone's nipples. I said it made me laugh.

Put your name on me
Like a tattoo on skin
I can shed every day
Give me that couture
To go
This one makes me laugh, too. I think this was, again, written as lyrics for a fictional song. It was probably supposed to be a song by the fictional band The Irreverents, but Julien probably covered it later when he and Morpheus had a secret stint as deviant disco divas Katir and Rakis of the band Vivid Sadness. Another song of Vivid Sadness was called Rooster, but I do not know that I ever wrote down the lyrics.
Morpheus
Shape changing
Lover
So darkly
Purple
Orchid, violet, lilac
What fab colors
But mostly orchid
Those dark and dangerous
Purple
Blossoms that...
Well like
Those deeply
Red, fuck me red
Petal soft lips
That tease and suck
Lap me up
Cream colored skin
Nothing like it
The flesh
And midnight blue
(Here's the color scheme)
Your cobweb
Silk tresses
indescribable black
My everything
Even the black
This one was most definitely written in the Julien voice, about Morpheus, after the time the characters became lovers. No one else (except maybe Jean-Daniel) thinks of Morpheus as sexy. They might think him in some way kewl or attractive, but usually he's thought of as gloomy, or mischevious, or talented, or tortured, but not gay (here merry as well as homosexual) and sexy. Also, I might note that certain lines do not refer to Morpheus himself, but to his pet vampire orchid named Fred who often appears a vine of purple flowers wound about some part of Morpheus's body. I think that many characters cannot stop thinking of Morpheus as a child, because his mother is so well known to them, whereas Julien always viewed Morpheus as a peer.
Sand
a little more sand
somnus
a little more right now
master
come laughing
crashing right now
master
a little more sand
on the downward spiral
a little more right now!
falling
down star dust
sleep sand on the brink now
drowning
right now!
help me!
help me!
watch me eat now
watch me eat myself inside out!
Above is written in the voice of the character Opium, as one of her songs from her solo album Queen of Swords, but it is inspired by several things: NIN songs, some early issues of The Sandman comic, and the Empty World character Somniel, who is Opium's husband and father of her two children.
Hurt
Hello.
Complete?
Regression.
In the abyss
Coldy
Looking at you
On a low
In a hallway
Face quivering
All I can do to keep from crying
Loss of faith
Loss of love
Loss of me
Loss of you
Loss of life?
Tortured by your being...
Your indifference my shackles
Your confusion my cross
Your twisting faces are nails
Your love the whip that licks my skin
And I thought you just a lost little boy
Dreamed you
A ghost...will haunt me forever
You cry!
Jealousy toward teddy bears
And missing the chain mail dress
Others...
Blind eye sees the one who would have stayed forever.
Deaf ears hear the vows you never had to ask for.
Numb hands, cold nose, dumb mouth...
I am as invisible to you now as I am to all the world.
But you once saw me as no one else could.
Suicide pact?
Suicide pact.
"...like ice into my heart"
Numb, nothing and sweet fuck all.
Loss, longing and "I want to see you hurt."
Hurt me?
Hurt me.
Hurt me!
HURT ME!
I want to feel something from you!
Oh Kay. I wrote that one after I broke up with my ex-finace. Oodles of angst, eh?
